Rick and I joined the Navy early in 1983 while seniors in high school; not knowing that we'd eventually end up as bunk mates during basic training. On January 2, 1984 Rick and I left the small town of Clarion, Pennsylvania to begin our basic training in Orlando, Florida.  Eight weeks later he and I moved to the other side of the base and continued as roommates through Electricity & Electronics School; upon graduation we then went separate directions, he to ET "A" school and I to EW "A" school. In 1985 while I was on a Persian Gulf Deployment, Rick babysat my car while attending school in Norfolk, VA. Upon graduating he began his tour on the USS Stark.
